Three Peaks race yachts run aground

The volunteer crew of Beaumaris RNLI has been called out twice to assist contestants taking part in the Three Peaks Yacht Race, one of the oldest and most remarkable extreme multi-sport endurance races in the world which started yesterday, Saturday 15 June.
The first incident saw the crew paged at 21.11 last night to a yacht that had run aground off Caernarfon Bar.  The crew went to assist the yacht but as one of the rules of the race stipulates no outside assistance is allowed the race contestants decided to wait until they refloated.
The second call out was today at 09.01 to another yacht that had run aground at The Cribben in the Menai Strait.  The yacht, Firedancer, was assisted off the rock by the lifeboat crew.
